New cannabinoid receptor discovered; CB3 protects stomach & colon.

A third cannabinoid receptor has been identified – and it’s in the stomach and colon.

Technically named GPR55, it’s already being called the CB3 receptor.

This newly discovered receptor appears to be a target for CBD and THC, and possibly other cannabinoids.

Animal research showed that CB3 regulates stomach & colon functions in mice, says a study published in “Current Opinion in Pharmacology.”
