Cannabis treatment significantly improved challenging behaviours in children suffering Autism Spectrum Disorder, according to an article in the March 2019 issue of Journal of Autism Developmental Disorders.
“Following the cannabis treatment, behavioral outbreaks were much improved or very much improved in 61% of patients,” says the research paper’s abstract.”
Sixty children with ASD and severe behavioral problems were involved in the retrospective study.
A serious but transient psychotic event occurred in one of the children whose cannabis treatment used higher THC. Treatment with an anti-psychotic was required.
